CAPE COAST TRIP

The first week we were in Ghana we made a trip to Cape Coast with Stephen Abu.  He wanted to check on some land that he has purchased to use for his large machinery rentals.  He took us along to see that part of Ghana. It was a long day 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. but we are so glad we had that opportunity to see the ocean for the first time, a resort and Elmina Castle where the Slave trade took place for about 100 years.
(More on that later)

We traveled a nice highway which was constructed by the U.S. when Bush was President.  They call it the Bush Highway.  It made for a much more pleasant trip for much of the journey

Obviously no seat belt laws in Ghana
The street scenes in Cape Coast were much the same as in Accra.  Always interesting!

We stopped briefly at Anomabu, a beach resort

These are painted tires with flowers planted in them.

There were other painted tires
on the grounds which acted as
flower pots

Growth here doesn't have to be
encouraged, it needs to
be confined!

Stephen Abu's Land - Spent about 30 minutes there then back in the car!

Thankfully, on our way back to Accra Stephen took a detour just for us so we could take a tour of Elmina Castle.  It was one of three centers for trade that eventually became slave trading. I'll write a separate blog on that.
